Further Comments:
Cornwall Lesbian Line was set up by a group of women in 1989 and was the first Lesbian Line in Cornwall. Its aim was, and still is, to bring the lesbian community together, to offer support to lesbians, especially those who are just 'coming-out', or who live in isolated areas. It also provides information about where to go to meet other women, and occasionally to just offer a friendly ear. If we can't help, we have a list of lesbian/lesbian friendly professionals (such as counsellors, solicitors, doctors etc.) that we can refer callers to.
We also offer a befriending service where two line members meet up with a caller for an informal coffee and a chat. We can also arrange to meet in order to escort someone into a venue if they'd rather not go into it on their own. The women who answer the phone are lesbians of all ages, walks of life etc. who are positive about their sexuality. They are not professionally trained, but are able to draw on their own experiences to help others.
Cornwall Lesbian Line and the Newsletter, Outback, are non-profit making and are run by volunteers. All names are kept strictly confidential. The project is EEFO kitemarked.

CHLC endeavours to ensure that all the information on this website is accurate and from genuine organisations. We have accepted the information given in good faith and ask that organisations complete a Quality Check List for review. This review enables us to satisfy 'ourselves' that projects are properly constituted and that procedures are in place to vet project staff (in accordance with 'our' understanding of the nature of the project). Where we are unsure, where systems are complex, or where documentation, procedures or systems are still being established, we advise individuals to contact the project manager concerned. Where reviewing has not been completed we advise with the following statement "Reviewing currently in progress".
It is, however, the responsibility of individuals to ensure that they are satisfied that any contacts made via this website and its database are suitable for their needs. The review is only 'our opinion' and we do not check the project documentation or procedures. CHLC (PCDT and its partners Cornwall Council, Penwith Volunteer Bureau and Volunteer Cornwall) take no responsibility for the use of this information.
