Mediation Cornwall

Trained volunteers help to resolve disputes, mainly between neighbours.

Geography: All Cornwall but mainly Kerrier, Penwith and Carrick

Age Range: All ages

Gender: Male and female

Status/Affiliation: Connected to Peninsula Mediation (Devon) and part of Mediation UK

Brief Description of Project:

Mediation Cornwall helps individuals to reach solutions to disputes (such as over noise levels) that are acceptable to everyone involved. Negotiations continue as long as necessary. We believe people prefer to avoid litigation or confrontation.

Services Offered:

Listening to both sides in a dispute.

Suggesting possible ways ahead and often achieving solutions acceptable to both.

Further Comments:

Have just appointed a part-time paid member of staff and wish to recruit more volunteer mediators.

Hope to move into school mediation work at a later date.

CHLC endeavours to ensure that all the information on this website is accurate and from genuine organisations. We have accepted the information given in good faith and ask that organisations complete a Quality Check List for review. This review enables us to satisfy 'ourselves' that projects are properly constituted and that procedures are in place to vet project staff (in accordance with 'our' understanding of the nature of the project). Where we are unsure, where systems are complex, or where documentation, procedures or systems are still being established, we advise individuals to contact the project manager concerned. Where reviewing has not been completed we advise with the following statement "Reviewing currently in progress".

It is, however, the responsibility of individuals to ensure that they are satisfied that any contacts made via this website and its database are suitable for their needs. The review is only 'our opinion' and we do not check the project documentation or procedures. CHLC (PCDT and its partners Cornwall Council, Penwith Volunteer Bureau and Volunteer Cornwall) take no responsibility for the use of this information.
